Painting a Poem: a short course in the art of poetry and the poetry of art

WHAT: In a supportive atmosphere of challenge and fun, this 3 day interdisciplinary workshop is designed to delve into the heart of poetry and open wide that extra eye of the imagination we all possess.

WHO: It is aimed to satisfy both the total beginner and the more experienced poet/artist.

HOW: Using a wide range of exercises and materials, participants will learn how to expand and develop the imagery of their chosen poem. They will examine and elaborate their personal responses to the poem. They will then learn to translate and pursue the deeper themes and structures of poetry in visual terms. Finally the participants will learn how to assemble and focus their learning to create their own unique expressive & independent work of art.

There will be a materials fee of 15 per person. Basic art materials and a few other bits and bobs will be provided such as pencils, paint and plain paper. Participants may also bring their own personal materials.
